Carmella
Bowen
brings a wealth of experience as well as a heart full of love for
children to this role as Preschool Director. She has worked in
Early Childhood Education programs since 1991, including work with
children from ages 0-12 with backgrounds varying from specials needs to
low-income to children in
Christian Education. Carmella has an Associate of Arts Degree in Early
Childhood Education and is now completing her Bachelor’s Degree in
Special Education. Prior to joining Joyful Hearts Preschool, Carmella
worked as a Center Director with Easter Seals. She also
worked in a Director position at First Place for Children in
Tacoma. Fully trained in NAEYC (National Association for the Education
of Young Children) guidelines and an anti-bias approach to curriculum,
Carmella brings with her a commitment to education and the support of
young children and families, especially those with special needs.
Carmella is also working at Lead Teacher for Joyful Hearts Preschool, in
addition to her role as Director.
Above all, Carmella’s mission is to share God’s love with little people.
She enjoys working with parents and volunteers … and looks forward to
engaging with local children and their families!
